Almost the anniversary of the non-traditional theater festival "NAMAS no. 5" program will be opened this year by the performance of director Karolis Zajauskas - a visual journey "Narcissus". Due Mondi laureate, the director currently working in Kyiv will tell the myth of Narcissus described in Ovid's "Metamorphoses" in the conservatory of the VDU Botanical Garden. Struck by ardent but fruitless love, he spends days staring at his image, until finally, when he dies, he is reborn as a flower. You won't be able to sit in this performance - together with the main character, the participants of the performance will wander on a cold autumn evening along the paths of the amazingly beautiful conservatory garden and look for the answer: what is hidden in the reflection of Narcissus?

"Metamorphoses" - more than two thousand years ago a poem written by the most famous poet of the Roman Empire. It consists of 15 hymns, in which the most famous myths of Antiquity are sung. The unifying leitmotif of the myth is the metamorphosis that occurs due to the fault, desire, or other reasons of the characters, during which the hero changes his physical form. This change in form is not only a symbolic transformation, but also a kind of journey of the soul, a reincarnation.

The creators of the show are looking for a relationship between modern man and the concept of "Kalokagatiya" formed in Ancient Greece. Translated from Latin, Kalos - beautiful, Gathos - virtuous. In Greek culture, beauty and virtue were not only aesthetic ideals, but also a vision of the perfect person: harmony between the exterior and the soul. From today's perspective, the relationship between the soul and external beauty becomes an extremely interesting topic of research, which the creators of the play delve into in this visual journey. 5” part of the program.
