The Queen of Spades is the most mysterious and mystical work of Alexander Pushkin. Original directorial decisions and emotional dance language give Anželika Cholina's interpretation of this work even more drama and tension. The destinies of the characters are creatively created in the play, and German's story unfolds to the audience from a completely unexpected angle - the Queen of Spades becomes not only a fateful card in his fate...

"Passion for gambling is the strongest of passions... ", said A. Pushkinas. The famous phrase of the piece - "three, seven, ace" - has been heard even by those who do not know Germano's tragic fate.

Germano's fate is in the hands of romanticized random luck. She awakens the hope of curbing the capricious Fortune in the poor officer's mind. The hero believes that learning the secret of the three cards from the old Countess will open the doors of unlimited success and happiness. And this will help him to raise his status in society, climb the career ladder and thus get the desired attention of his beloved woman. Calculation and excitement are fighting inside Germano.

The Countess is a mystical character in the play. She is both German's victim and the force with which German plays, at the beginning creating his own game strategy, and at the end becoming a victim of his own game.

False hopes, thoughts of easy success, thirst for personal happiness, thickening the role of chance in the game and reliance on it has made gambling a most dangerous activity for generations.
