Iwan Wyrypajew Iran Conference for two -part performance
A scientific conference is held at the University of Copenhagen. The speakers of the conference are influential scientists, public figures, clergy. At first glance, the play looks like a social or even political dispute of heroes about democracy, liberal and conservative views, human rights and freedoms, and the geopolitical situation in today's global world. But as soon as the action accelerates, it becomes obvious that this story is not about politics, but about personal experiences of heroes, their wounds and desires.
The play author Iwan Wyrypajew, talking about his play, says:
"I see that today many progressive people on the planet, whom the major changes in society depend on, are increasingly asking themselves: Is there a way out of this critical situation for everyone? And what is this critical situation? What is the problem?
The problem is that we humans did not learn to live on this planet with each other. Outside the window is the 21st century, and we are still sharing areas, dividing each other by blood, nationality and race, and believe that the spiritual path we recognize is the only right one. How to live in such a world? The global world became small. We are all like the inhabitants of one municipal apartment. We are at war and suffer from that war.
Finally, today in so -called progressive layers (scientists, politicians, businessmen, artists) began to sound the subject of the meaning of life. We all gradually come to the conclusion that in order to change something in our world, we need to understand what the meaning of our lives is and what the meaning of life is in general. And if these issues in the past seemed to be about esotericism, religion and philosophy, they are increasingly raised today in major business forums, political discussions and scientific conferences.
What is the meaning of life? And is the meaning of life outside the very limits of this issue? It becomes obvious: even if the meaning of the lives of many people is a mystery, this issue still becomes extremely sharp and important to an ever larger number of the population of our planet. It makes no sense to manage our business, to carry out political reforms and to do art if we do not understand why we do it and where we are going. So for me personally, this play is about knowing.
But I would like everyone to discover something of their own. ”
