This story is about time. Not the one counted by clocks or marked by calendars. And that - internal, human, tangible. The time needed for a look, for friendship, for a thought, for a game. The one that is increasingly disappearing. Have you noticed that we say more and more, "I don't have time"? That we talk less and less, play, just be...? That more and more people are becoming tired, irritated, sad - as if something is being quietly but constantly taken away from them?
Shadow City is a world very similar to our own. People live here who are constantly in a hurry, planning, saving - until one day they don't understand what all this is for. The invisible Gray Gentlemen, the masters of saving, secretly steal time, and at the same time, the joy of life. People don't talk to each other anymore, children don't play anymore, no one notices how colors slowly disappear.
And then Momo shows up. She is not a heroine in the traditional sense. She doesn't have any superpowers, she just knows how to listen. And when the world begins to sink into the shadows, she alone dares to embark on a magical journey in search of time.
It is a visually poetic story about the importance of stopping, hearing and knowing how to be. Perhaps time is not an asset to be saved, but a gift worth sharing?
