Herkaus Kunčiaus' criminal operetta "Danaja and the Villain" tells how on June 15, 1985, Bronius M., who came to Leningrad Hermitage from Kaunas, committed an act of political vandalism and poured sulfuric acid on Rembrandt's genius painting "Danaja". In a theatrical, grotesque style, the entire history of the painting is revealed from its creation to the present day. In the end, the operetta turns into a protest of the revived Dania against the injustice of the world.
