"Dance, Edita, Dance" is a tragicomic story of a young girl Edita, who works in the leasing of video at the beginning of independence and tries to understand her place in the world. In Edita's imagination, life is a movie, but she doesn't know what genre. Sometimes she is a fighter, sometimes a romantic heroine, sometimes a single teenager lost between Hollywood's dreams and Šiauliai reality.
In the center of the performance is the obsessive love of Edita for a guy who doesn't even know about her feelings. Like the novel "The Southern Chronicle", the new play by Rimantas Kmita balances between comedy and sensitive, sincere theme. With gentle humor, it reveals how a young woman's identity is formed in the absence of clear models - when American films mix with post -Soviet reality and free market ideas with old, incurable injuries.
Eglė Vertelytė, the famous film director and scriptwriter of the movie "Southern Chronicle", who debuted on the theater scene, did not avoid film expression elements, so the screen projections, filming episodes blend in with live actions and interpretations of choreographer Airida Gudaites.
