In principle, everyone has principles. In principle - principles are important. At all times. It was, is and probably will be. Sometimes those principles turn into absurdly comic situations and provoke dramatic conflicts. Especially - limited, blunt, meaningless, out of place and out of time. And where human relations begin, well, you understand... there is a suitable space for the amplitude of emotions - from love to hate, jealousy and nobility, sincerity and posturing, essence and pettiness. And here, the comedy turns into a tragedy...
"But in principle, everything will end well, brightly and with hope", - says actress Kristina Kazlauskaitė about her latest work. "Principal" is her directorial attempt to creatively transfer and combine two Russian classic Anton Chekhov's humorous one-act plays "The Bear" and "Courtship" to the big stage. "Maybe I'm poking my nose where I shouldn't be. I'm afraid, I'm shaking, but I'm poking," K. Kazlauskaitė is excited as she prepares for the premier.
A. Chekhov's early work was not so often staged in Lithuanian theaters, but it remains relevant, ironic, it recognizes people's vices, empty ambitions and the intersection of stupid principles with reality. "Do you think that life has changed? What about our principles? So everything is the same! Systems and technologies change, but people love and hate, laugh and cry just the same. Theater allows us to look at it more sharply, more ironically, and highlights some of the character traits of people to the point of absurdity," K. Kazlauskaitė shares her thoughts.
Aim to spend 130 minutes of your life, basically, with a smile.
The main characters are created by professional and well-known Lithuanian theater actors
