The author and director of the staging of the immersive (engaging, interactive) performance in Russian based on A. Chekhov's play "Uncle Vania" is Tadas Montrim. The play is performed in Markučiai Manor, Vilnius, Subačiaus st. 124. In the performance created on an innovative principle, the audience travels with a guide to different places of action, becoming invisible and silent witnesses of the events taking place there. A. Pushkin Museum in Markučiai is an ideal place to recreate, as Chekhov himself called, "scenes from provincial life" of the end of the 19th century. It is convenient not only the geographical location, the museum rooms that have preserved the authenticity and atmosphere, but also the hilly landscape area around the house, suitable for playing individual scenes not only in the premises of the house, but also around it, thus giving the audience a real feeling of "time travel".
The audience gathered at "Uncle Vania" is divided into 4 groups of 15 people each. Each group is assigned a guide - a stalker, whose task is to coordinate the audience's journey after 1896. A work written by Chekhov. The guides will familiarize their groups with the rules of the game of the upcoming performance, the responsibilities and rights of the audience, and will hand out masks, which the audience will not have the right to remove until the end of the performance. 4 separate scenes will be performed at the same time, watched by different groups of spectators who will travel through the performance space according to the guides' instructions. The rooms in the Markučiai mansion are separated by doors, but both the audience and the play's heroes, being in their surroundings, can hear the life going on behind the wall.
The goal of the creators of the play "Uncle Vania" is not to recreate the plot of the play, but the situation itself - Voinickis' house overflowing with hatred, self-loathing, anger, but also love and passion. We want to create conditions for the viewer not only to observe, but also to experience, to fully immerse themselves in completely new experiences, experiences and feelings.
