The Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater begins its 107th season with an exclusive world premiere! It is a work born in the visions of the legendary director Robert Wilson, which fate, unfortunately, did not have time to realize on stage.

Žibuoklė Martinaitytė, one of the most famous Lithuanian composers living in New York, like R. Wilson, who presents her work to the whole world, after long conversations with the director, created the music for her first opera based on his ideas, which in turn inspired Wilson's new visions. About the journey to the world, the self-narrative Upside Down, inspired by Inuit poetry, images of arctic cold, snow and ice, cleanliness and whiteness, seems to say: everything has two sides, the present and the upside-down, and you can never be sure which one you see, which is the real one...

On the LNOBT stage, R. Wilson's collaborators interpret the hints he gave, and at the same time create their own performance. According to the director Nicola Panzer, this work is like a collage of diverse experiences, put together on a journey of learning about the world, often reciting internal monologues. The opera (author of the libretto is playwright Konrads Kuhn) features fragments of English, Inuit, Lithuanian language, poetry, myths and legends. Therefore, in this world premiere of the opera Inverted Reality, an unexpected journey full of discoveries awaits us all.
