Antika Colony opens its doors to city guests!

When you enter through the heavy metal doors of the II building of the Lukiški prison, you will find yourself in an isolated mythical city-colony. This is not such a distant dystopia as it may appear at first glance. Imprisoned in their inner prisons, the heroes of ancient Greek dramas relive the eternal stories of myth over and over again. An evocative antiquity, a dangerously recognizable present or a programmed future? Are they one and the same?

The "Antique Colony" action taking place simultaneously on several floors of the Lukiški prison allows the audience to move freely and choose the route of their experience. Even 9 heroes of ancient Greek dramas will take care of that. Trust and let yourself be led forward into the past, experiencing it as close as you want.

Kolonija Antika is inspired by ancient Greek drama and philosophy. The focus of the experiential performance is the cycle of eternal renewal, the stagnant forms destroyed by the dive, the chaos engulfing the stoic order, opening up a state of new possibilities. Fragments of the narrative that emerge in the spaces allow you to create a unique story, experiencing it from different perspectives. In "Kolonia Antikija" we deliberately move away from the experience of a conventional theater performance, creating circumstances and inviting the ritual of the experience as a form of survival.

This is the first such experiential performance housed in a unique cultural heritage object.

Kolonija Antika is the latest experimental work by director Paulius Markevičius and the theater Tolyn gilyn, which provides the audience with an authentic experience. Far Deeper 2024 for another experiential performance, "Café Existsants" won the "Golden Stage Cross" as well as the "Outstanding Performance Award" at the Vilnius International Theater Festival "Sirens", 2024.

The performance "Kolonija Antika" was created in the II building of the Lukiški prison, which has never been open to the audience before. Until the closure of Lukiškii Prison in 2019. In Corps II, convicts of the disciplinary group and persons from the penitentiary were mainly kept.
