Improvising in a group is a great joy, but also a great challenge. It's a lot of fun on stage, a lot of energy, but at the same time there are a lot of different ideas that can sometimes mix with each other.
In the workshop, you will learn how to look at group performances in a simple way, how to accept partners' ideas and find common themes together, and develop them together. We'll do a lot of group acting, and you'll get to know some patterns that will help you create order and avoid chaos on stage.
In long-form improvisation, we approach group performances in a simple way, almost in the same way as two-person etudes. We try to have no more than two different opinions, to donate our ideas to develop partners. We can have two different opinions, we can have more, but it is very important not to overshadow each other's ideas.
In the workshop you will learn how to:
- Discover a common theme when improvising in a group.
- Divide your attention in an orderly manner.
- Create an order on stage by dividing the roles of main and supporting characters.
- To create order in a chaotic situation.
- Raise common energy with the group without creating chaos.
- Let go of your own ideas and those of your partners, strengthening them and resisting them.
- Copying others and thinking less for yourself.
- Create delicious, clear and interesting comedy together with others.

In long-form improvisation, plays are created without rules. The performers do not tell the audience the structures or performance methods of the performances. The performer together with the team must create challenges for himself, overcome them and surprise the audience. A strong long-form improvisation performer is able to consciously manage his emotions, make interesting decisions, step beyond his comfort limits, experiment, absorb information from his partner and the environment, use personal and colleagues' experiences to create strong content.
The improvisation workshop will be led by Deividas Borodulinas - artistic director of "Impro Kaunas" theater.
He has performed in Oslo, Copenhagen and Warsaw and studied improvisation with improv masters Will Hines, Adam Cawley, Rob Norman, Jeff Michalski, Monika Smith, Alex Berg, Inbal Lori and others. David is a graduate of UCB and WGIS "game of the scene" style improvisation schools. He likes to improvise strongly and constantly seek the limits of improvisational possibilities. Deividas plays in the troupes "Mini-Fridge" (international), POSH, together with members of the "Impro Kaunas" theater in private events.
