THE WORLD WITHOUT SUBTITLES (N16)
Speaking of autism
Where words are not enough, hand shadow theater speaks.
The Hand Shadow Theater performance "The World Without Subtitles" tells the story of a young man with autism spectrum disorder. Despite finding an oasis of peace in the water, the boy is forced to face social challenges on land - endless questions, information overload, rules of behavior and constant pressure to fit in. The fragmentary structure of the performance will open the door to the memories of a person with autism spectrum disorder, which will allow you to get to know his daily life. His greatest desire is to be understood. Maybe we are not so different?
The play is based on Naoki Higashida's book Why Do I Love Jumping So Much, which has become an important voice on the autism spectrum. The young man's experiences on stage turn into a sensitive story about neurodiversity, the pressure to fit in and the right to be yourself.
The creation of the play was financed by the Lithuanian Council of Culture
