"Summer wasps sting us even in November" is the story of how two men and one woman, not knowing what to do with their lives, how to fight absolute loneliness and meaninglessness, embark on a brave and tragicomic journey through the world of tangled relationships. They try to find a way out of a situation where normal communication methods no longer work. In order to free themselves from loneliness and self-deception, the play's heroes try to escape from the trap of time, to escape both from being and from themselves. The search for truth gains momentum, eventually leading to absurdity. And all that remains is the rain—rain that has been falling for the third day. Only the summer wasps remain, the sacred summer bees that sting us even in November. It is very interesting and very exciting. Here, as always in I.Vyrypayev's plays, it is very funny, a little sad, a little cruel and, finally, a little about the meaning of life.
Critics identify I. Vyrypaev's dramaturgy as works that lie somewhere between the American director, the cult director of "The Reader" Quentin Tarantino, and the Russian cinema classic, "Soliario" director Andrei Tarkovsky.
"Summer wasps sting us even in November" is my favorite play. Perhaps, because there is a secret in the construction of the text itself. For example, there is one important detail that the audience will never know about in the play, but they can feel it. I don't know how this play will be staged, what key the director will use to unlock it, and what will be presented to the audience. I am sure there will be love and light in the play. However, "Summer Wasps..." is a very difficult play to stage, so the directors have a difficult task. Of course, this is the author's fault, and perhaps the form is too complicated, but I hope that it will be fun, sad and useful for everyone", says I. Vyrypajevas, the author of the play.
