Nicholas Gogol
Crazy
Oscar Koršunov
How does an ordinary servant seem to be even an unobtrusive person suddenly becoming all destructive, dangerous power to society? The answer is director Oscar Koršunov's performance "The Crazy" based on the work of Nicholas Gogol in the premiere. Having survived the world premiere where the performance seems to have been created - in the Catalan region of political coup in Spain, artists return to Lithuania, where the fascism of normality is increasing and local crazy rage.
According to the director, N. Gogol, a Ukrano classic who lived in the 19th century, now seems to be an accurate and competent IT political reviewer, analyzing the situation both in Lithuania and throughout Europe.
"It is a prophetic story that talks about the nature of fascism associated with the desire to reorganize the world and the obsession with greatness. It has happened to the great dictators of the twentieth century. Now the whole world is obviously puritonic, everything is normally, no longer the presumption of innocence. There were quite a few such historical periods. It would be enough to remind you of speed, inquisition, fascism, well, and we still remember the Soviet "justice". There is no need to look for examples. Suppose, in Lithuania, the twisted of the "grass" will be in prison for a twist, or it is already suggested to introduce forced treatment at a psychiatric hospital. Books are disposed of, magazines are robbed, classics are censored, anonymous complaints are created. And all this in the name of justice and normality, ”says Koršunov.
"Gogol's prophecies and texts relevant today - just incredible. If in the 19th century, when a work was written, the idea that France would become a Muslim country could seem like a complete craze, it doesn't seem today. Others, which already recognize our needs, are already in the future. - continues O. Koršunov.
"And sometimes you don't even have to interpret - just read and understand. Isn't this Gogol's text in Lithuania now: 'After all, there are examples in the story: it is simple, not that the nobleman, anyway as a citizen or even a peasant - and suddenly it appears that to get out? ” - O. Koršunov concludes the idea.
