"Chroma" is a story about the limits of language, image and human desire for beauty. The play is created by examining the relationship between an aging writer who has lost faith in the power of language and a young man - the embodiment of unattainable beauty. The writer, looking for ways to record reality, films everything with a camera as if possessed, hoping to capture what he can no longer convey in words. The play explores what remains when language withers under the weight of personal and societal violence. The writer's inability to articulate her desires reflects a broader silencing of queer voices in a world increasingly marked by radicalization and intolerance. Inspired by Thom Mann's short story "Death in Venice" and the personal history and work of British filmmaker Derek Jarman, Chroma explores the contradictory nature of beauty and lust—forces that simultaneously attract, repress, fascinate, and destroy—as well as loneliness, aging, and the longing for youth that can only be seen but not touched. The members of the creative team of the show became in 2024. Laureates of Dalia Tamulevičiūtė's national dramaturgy competition.
