Augustas Gornatkevičius, the director of the younger generation, is created at the State Small Theater in Vilnius, whose artistic character has already been loved and appreciated by the audience. In the event of a German writer, Hauptmann, when creating vivid psychological characters, he sensitively explores social problems, highlighting the lower sections of society and the tragedies of their lives. In the center of the play there are two women connected by maternity topics. The action takes place in a closed space - the former theater director Haro Hasenroiter Theater Studio between old theater requisites and costumes where Paulina's baby is born. The detective that involves the other residents of the house and the police, leading to the tragic downtown, soon begins.
According to director A. Gornatkevičius, the play "Rats" first and foremost talks about social exclusion and inequality, and the causes of deep society alienation and radicalization emerge. The work of different social backgrounds in the work in one enclosed space allows them to reveal the different perceptions of the world of these groups and the goals set by themselves. The portrait of a woman, which causes not so much the inner desires and fears as the surrounding environment and imposed roles, the body autonomy, is so vividly in the "rats", and today it is so vividly rethinking in the Western world. The work in its storyline and the style of subtle humor again reminds us of the true joy of a strong dramaturgical work on the theater scene.
