Birutė Mar: “In 1939, after the Klaipėda region opened, Soviet tanks, the USSR occupation, began in June 1940. in the icy leafy of the Laptev Sea.
It was only in 1998 that the Seimas of Lithuania passed a resolution, a resolution and a law that legally described Soviet deportations: "The mass deportations of the population from the occupied country to its own occupant are one of the most serious crimes of the war." But at that time it was even called a "humane action", cleaning of the nation, "in order to suppress the resistance of the class of exploiters."
The idea of creating this performance came a long time ago, and it ripened slowly, with a little more learning about exile. My parents' childhood passed at the edge of the eternal frost, they grew up in Siberia, by the Laptev Sea, but never talked about it, did not say it because it was dangerous, banned, taboo. Probably protected their children from that experience, kept it at the deepest bottom of memory. Only after 1991, when publications of exile memories appeared, did I find out about the lives of my parents there ... The yurt was built at the Rumšiškės Household Museum-the "national" Lithuanian house, which thousands of Lithuanians lived in Siberia. Then I saw with my own eyes what my parents' childhood house was…
The pain of grandparents and parents, as well as thousands of Lithuanians remained deep, unspoken. I began to think about this performance as a peculiar offer, the experience of the pain inside - the pain that still in the memory of the nation and the fear, the horror, the eternal question: for what? And the dangers, the fear: what if the story recurs tomorrow and we will open us again from our land, home, history?
It is said that when you survive again, you tell you what is most depressed - relieves. There is no fear and the horror of the monster inside. Therefore, you want to speak out loud about it, on the theater scene - to lift the "turf" of memory and to tell the next generation - to find out where the genes of our nation are unconsciously experiencing fear, mistrust. Already to testify to those who did not experience that reality, to take a peculiar history of history survival.
Also, I want to experience my parents' experiences on the stage, to get to know and understand, to sympathize and possibly to be liberated. I dedicate this performance to them and to anyone who experienced an undeservedly painful fate.
The heroines of the play - the girl who grew up in exile - put the picture of my mom and other "Ice Children" memories, details, experiences. In the eyes of the child, the world is not yet affected, not known to death, violence, pain; with the beauty of the beautiful northern lights, the magical Christmas in the yurt, making a Christmas tree and decorating it with paper candy; With a dream to discover a red bull on the journey from the girl's dress and rolled on the rails ... I am very beautiful to this mom's memories: only Bumpt on the rails - dresses of dresses, someone's life, the fate of many people in Lithuania… "
