Rimos Tumin's performance "Masquerade" is one of the most unique and long-lasting Lithuanian theater performances, it has been performed for more than 20 years. A love story centered on a lost bracelet is interwoven with a variety of characters - gamblers, ladies, a baroness, a duke, servants and those you can't exactly name. The magic of the Vilnius small theater "Maskarado" does not come from the revelry of the masquerade ball. The actors' performance, direction, scenography conveys the momentary celebration and the constant longing for it, which persists long after the performance ends. The atmosphere of the performance can be described in the following words of the director: "Imagine that you are in St. Petersburg, when it is cold outside, the ice is cleared in some places, and very slippery in some places. And the stars are reflected in that ice. You play in such a scene, in Petersburg of that time, you are among the people of that city." Romantic 19th century. melodrama turned into an eccentric and melancholic tragicomedy in the hands of a talented director. In this performance of mesmerizing beauty, we hear the sounds of the heady and longing waltz of Khachaturian and the snow falling in the empty black space of the stage, nostalgically reflects the cultural experience of the last century, which makes us remember the theater of Brecht and Strehler, Broadway frenzies and Fellini films.
