An impressive and complex personality: actor public, mystic, educator, visionary. The biography of J. Osterwa is in itself a colorful narrative. His hero is a popular, successful actor of Krakow and Warsaw theaters, a young, attractive artist - most of his time and energy to create his own theater - Laboratory Theater Reduta. This theater denied the practice of that time and did not get into what we would call today the main stream of cultural life. J. Osterwa wanted to reform theater by introducing a new work ethos - collective and responsible. He looked at the actor's profession as a mission, almost sacred service to art and society. Mr Osterwa wanted to get stamp and superficial from the theater. Could this idea succeed? Are Osterwa's ideas outdated today, or are it still surprising and shocking? J. Osterwa - mad or bold reformer? The performance wants to look at J. Osterw as a man - actor, husband, father - and try to dive, for at least an hour, on his artistic vision. Actor Daniel Salman, using a comedy, stand-up form, and sometimes a dramatic tone, tells the story of theater. The actor uses a rich variety of theater styles, engages modern media, creates a chamber atmosphere, crosses scenes and spectators. For a moment, viewers find themselves in the interwar theater, and the other is moved to the present to contemplate the theater priorities, its significance and the power of the impact on man. ////
This performance, its core is inseparable from the Vilnius Old Theater. The Reduta, an experimental Polish theater, which operated in 1919-1939, was transferred to Vilnius and conducted theater experiments in the building of the Old Theater in Vilnius for some time (1925-1929). At that time, Juliusz Osterwa (ver. Julian Andrzej Maluszekas, 1885–1947) was an innovator, theater hooligan, and the audience of the historic capital of Lithuania was also familiar with roles created in the theater in Vilnius Town Hall. ////
Daniel Salman is a graduate of Alexander Zelwerowicz Theater Academy of Warsaw. Since 2011 - actor of Lublin Juliusz Osterwa Theater. Also played in Warsaw Powszechny, Współczesny, National and Roma Theaters. He has been awarded repeatedly for acting. 2019 The Golden Mask was awarded the prize of the Lublin branch of the Polish theater Association for the lead role in Pinocchio (directed by Jakub Roszkowski) based on Carlo Collodio's work. He was twice awarded the Lublin Voivodeship Culture Prize and the Lublin Mayor Award. 2022 At the Juliusz Osterwa Theater, he created a mono -performance "Kreicer Sonata" (dir. Łukasz Lewandowski). Salman created the concept of this mono -performance, adapted it according to Lev Tolstoy's story and played a key role.
