The play "Good weather, if you don't think too much" based on the play of the same name by the actress, playwright, director Kristina Marija Kulinič takes on the ever more relevant themes of history, memory, historical trauma, guilt, and the Holocaust. Are we really learning and is it possible to learn from history? Only one thing is clear - only human nature does not change.
Two young people, history teacher Marija and soldier Julius, are stuck in an uncertain space reminiscent of the 21st century. Outdoor cafe in the old town of Vilnius. How did it get here, how did it live until then - a white spot. The only memory is the first date between the two... in the former Jewish ghetto. Sometimes they speak through the lips of dybukas (spirits incarnated into a living person in Jewish mythology), whose confessions lay a mosaic of their past lives.
In the face of the war against Ukraine, the October 7th attack on the population of Israel, and the subsequent war and unrest, the idea that "history repeats itself" has become more real than ever. But is the future real? Will we have the will, responsibility and common sense not to get stuck in another "history lesson"? What will our story be? How much power do we have to change it? Or maybe everything is already moving towards an inevitable catastrophe, the signs of which will be visible only in retrospect, only for those who will write (if they write) the story about us.
