Director Uršulė Bartoševičiūtė's play based on Kata Wéber's play "Parts of a Woman" (Polish: Cząstki kobiety) is the story of a young couple expecting their first child, a family drama that takes place these days and is based on the strength and determination of female characters. Family life, cohabitation attracts and shows the problems and internal conflicts of today's society as if through a lens. The 30-year-old protagonist of the play, Maja, is struggling with a personal tragedy. In order to return to life, she is inevitably forced to question her life so far, to build relationships from scratch. "Parts of a Woman" is an evocative picture of the life of a modern woman fighting for the right to her body and everyday life. Maya has to rebuild herself after what happened. Almost unconsciously, the picture of a harmonious and normal family begins to move - conflicts and tensions that were once covered up open up, the tragedy that happened seems to open Pandora's box: addiction, money, inheritance, mother's dementia. The family is multilingual - the cultural stereotypes, problems, and misunderstandings of such families come to the fore, which are determined by different cultural traditions and identity. This is highlighted by the divide between liberalism and religious traditions. There is an almost obsessive desire to find the culprit or the culprit, to punish him, to fulfill "justice" in the name of washing away the fictitious "sin" or "guilt". The playwright draws each character with great attention and empathy - she does not judge or criticize, but tries to understand the changes taking place. The cinematographic means of expression used in the performance, the intimate narration, the realism of the details captivate and fascinate the viewer. "Women's Parts" primarily talks about a woman's right to her body, the right to choose what to do with it. I look at Maya, the main character of the play, and in her I see every woman who has faced loss, mourning, suffering, doubt, trying to regain physical, emotional health, balance. Maya's environment, her family resemble hawks waiting for this woman's mistake, wrong step, decision. The baton of suffering is also vivid - the hatred born in one generation, the rivalry multiplies and is passed on to the next ones." (Ursulė Bartoševičiūtė)
"Parts of a Woman" is the first professional performance in Polish in the state theater of Lithuania since the interwar period. ///

Polish performance at the "Boska komedia" festival in Krakow. In the 2020s, the play was turned into the film Pieces of a Woman (Netflix) by K. Wéber and K. Mundruczó, starring actress Vanessa Kirby. Uršulė Bartoševičiūtė (Barto) is one of the most interesting theater directors of the young generation, who has created performances in various Lithuanian and foreign theaters. in 2021 Awarded the Young Artist Prize, the performance "Macbeth" in 2023. nominated in 5 categories of the Icelandic Theater Awards, the play "Anatomy of Suicide" (LNDT, 2024) was nominated in the "Golden Crosses of the Stage" awards in the categories of best direction, supporting female role and scenography. In her work, the director is interested in time, the ways in which generational relations can be analyzed, transforming traumas, and seeks to rethink the stagnant depiction of specific characters, events, phenomena, phenomena and feelings that change over time: how we historically portray women on stage, how to stage classical texts more correctly, what dynamics we prefer to observe on stage and in rehearsal halls. It is also important to answer the question - how else does time affect us, apart from the fact that it physically and ideologically makes us old and old-fashioned? ///
MAYA. [...] This is my body. This is my personal matter. do you understand This is something that you will not be able to beautify, such as neighborhoods, areas. It's none of your business. I don't want to talk about it. Especially here, in front of everyone. LARS. Do you know the history of the Takoma Bridge? In the 1940s, the bridge collapsed on itself. For a while, no one understood why. Then it turned out that resonance could have caused the tragedy. Every body has its own vibrations. And if the frequency of external vibrations is close to the frequency of the body itself, resonance occurs. [...] Even a bridge can collapse. (From Kata Wéber's play "The Parts of a Woman". Translated from Polish by Uršulė Bartoševičiūtė)
