Live music, jazzing bodies that almost speak with a voice, a sense of freedom and frenzy, gracefulness and elegance radiated by the dance - this is "Lindyhopera", which will take you out of everyday life, wake up your slumbering life, and transfuse your sleeping blood. All this and the energy of the vintage jazz ensemble "The Schwings Band", the movement architecture designed by choreographer Elzė Višnevskytė, and the jazz and swing cascades of composer Remi Rančis will guarantee a cheerful evening.
The main dramaturg of the performance is the body, or more precisely, the actors of the Vilnius Old Theater and their bodies. The director is music and rhythm. It is not for nothing that jazz and swing have become synonymous with freedom, and lindyhop is undoubtedly a rehearsal of freedom. Jazz dances (Charleston, black bottom, tap, lindy hop, tricks, solo jazz, balboa, etc.) were born from the need for liberation and joy.
Jazz is all kinds and everywhere, its language is based on rhythmicity, improvisation, individuality and expression. These elements have the power to create identity, connection with self and others. Jazz dances were born and developed as club dances, but were danced both on the streets and in living rooms. Lindyhop is a highly energetic couple dance that originated in the 1920s in Harlem, New York, in the black community.
The play explores the relationship between freedom and structure. Is freedom possible without boundaries, without structures? Can the structure provide security? What kind of freedom do we seek? How and what does jazz speak to us today, what can it teach?
Live music and choreography create a theater miracle that we all look forward to every day like a promise that never comes true. This fiesta of expression is for everyone: young, mature, elderly, someone who likes jazz and doesn't want to worry about "serious matters", i.e. i.e. minors Nobody loses here.

Elzė Višnevskytė - jazz dancer, choreographer, educator. Since 2017 runs the What a Jazz studio. Participates in international jazz dance festivals in Europe, Asia, USA.
Remis Rančys - musician, multi-instrumentalist, composer, educator. Actively participates in Lithuanian and foreign jazz scenes, one of the country's most talented jazz performers. Founder of vintage jazz, swing and New Orleans jazz ensemble The Schwings Band.
