Creative workshop "The alchemy of earth pigments: from soil to color" with artist Arūna Baronaite (for families with children)
Saturday, January 31, 1:00 p.m. In the KKKC Art Yard (Daržų St. 10) there will be a creative workshop "The Alchemy of Earth Pigments: From Soil to Color" with artist Arūna Baronaita, intended for families with children. The workshop will explore the Earth's natural pigments – ochres, clays, sand, ash and other materials – through a color palette. The event is part of the cycle of creative workshops "Earth Alchemy", which will take place from January to April.
The January workshop, which will be held twice - once for adults and the other time for families with children - is intended not only for researching the natural earth pigments that preserve the geological memory, but also for discovering how soil and stone turn into color: we will learn how to sustainably collect materials, dry them, grind them, sift them, separate pigment fractions and create our own pigment palette.
It will be an acquaintance with the earth not as a background, but as a living body and archive, a place where past, present and future ecological histories are intertwined at the molecular level. The workshop combines art and science: we will observe the behavior of materials and let nature itself reveal its knowledge through color.
TWO FORMATS - A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE
January 29 workshops for adults
For more in-depth research and experimentation: we will focus more on pigment properties, fractions, color reactions, material behavior and sustainability issues. Participants will create an individual pigment library, swatches and have more time for process and reflection.
January 31 workshops for families with children
This version focuses on play and experiential learning: for children (and parents) it will be an "adventure of discovery" of colors, from a lump of soil to real paint. We will work more through the senses (touching, rubbing, sifting), simple, safe processes, and the workshop will not require long attention spans and will be a great way for families to spend time together. We will create a common color palette and small creative samples.
ABOUT THE CYCLE OF CREATIVE WORKSHOPS "EARTH ALCHEMY"
Pigments - Reactions - Decay - Living Archive
It is a cycle of 4 workshops, 8 meetings (in January, February, March, April after a meeting for adults and families with children), where the land becomes a laboratory and creativity becomes research.
We will work with local materials: soil, clay, sand, ash, plant binders, create pigments and observe how chemical processes generate an image.
This is a workshop based on the principle of bioart, where the most important thing is not the "result", but the behavior of the material: reactions, deposits, transparency, drying, transformations.
Axis of the cycle - sustainability and connection with nature at the molecular level: we will learn to create with minimal, non-toxic materials, respecting the place and its resources. Each meeting will be a new alchemical experience, leading from the emergence of the pigment to the hybrid creation - a living archive.
The workshop series draws on contemporary artistic practices where natural pigments and inks become chemical reactions, a document of memory and ecological processes, exploring how colors emerging from found materials can bear witness to time, place and its states.
Please be informed that participants may be seen in photos and videos of the event published in various media. More information: www.kkkc.lt
