"Dinner with a Fool" is a great sitcom, where laughter is bordered with irony, and deep themes are hidden behind the apparent lightness.
Every week, a group of arrogant intellectuals host a dinner party... with idiots. Everyone brings what they think is the most absurd guest for fun. But this time, things will not go according to plan.
The main character, Brochan, a self-confident publisher, finds the "ideal" candidate: a naive tax inspector who has a mad passion for making models out of matches. Only this "fool" turns out to be not so simple. Instead of becoming an object of ridicule, Pignon begins to destroy Brochan's life. Absurd coincidences turn the evening into a disaster, and the conceited intellectual turns from hunter to victim of his own plan.
Full of funny dialogue and satire, Weber's play ridicules snobbery and shows that the real stupidity is arrogance.
For more than thirty years, this play has been successfully performed on world theater stages. It always attracts full houses, and the audience returns to watch it again and again because they find in it lively emotions, subtle humor and unique charm. The play gets the deserved love of the audience, and every time after the final scene, the hall erupted with long applause. This is truly one of the brightest and most successful modern comedies.
