The 31st Pažaislis Music Festival will invite listeners to a solemn closing concert, where the Spanish composer Manuel de Falla's opera "Short Life" will be performed for the first time in Lithuania (concert performance). This rarely heard work will be performed by the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra and the Kaunas State Choir, conducted by artistic director Gintarus Rinkevičius.
The main roles of the opera will be performed by internationally acclaimed soloists: Adriana González (Salud), Edgaras Montvidas (Paco), Justina Gringytė (Salud's grandmother), Joris Rubinovas (Uncle Sarvaor), Roman Kudriašovas (Manuel) and Tomas Pavilionis (Town, Blacksmith). The atmosphere of the concert will be enriched by the performance of a flamenco guitarist and dancer.
Manuel de Falla's opera is one of the most significant operas of the 20th century. of early Spanish music, with a strong folkloric influence and an authentic Andalusian spirit. An opera created in 1905. and premiered in 1913, it stands out for its concise form, intense dramaturgy and unique balance of vocal and instrumental music. The work reveals the composer's aspiration to create music based on emotional truth and cultural specificity.
A Short Life tells the drama of the young gypsy Salud, a story of love, betrayal and social contrasts that comes to life with evocative realism in Ms. de Falla's music. This one-hour opera is considered a significant turning point in the history of Spanish music, which helped establish the revival of the national style.
