Hebrew prayer
A musical journey through the Jewish spiritual heritage
Isidor Abramowicz (Israel-Argentina, Cantor)
GLEB Pyšniak (cello)
Tadas Motiečius (accordion)
At the center of the program is Jewish liturgical and traditional music, reborn through a sensitive interpretation of three performers. The famous cantor, Isidor Abramowicz (Israel-Aargentina), invites you to immerse yourself in the world of Hebrew hymns, where deep spiritual content and emotional intensity emit. The concert program will feature cellist Gleb Pyšniak and accordionist Tadas Motiečius, whose improvisational freedom and sensitive musicality create an intimate, sedimental atmosphere, both along with the cantor and their duo works.
The program includes Joseph Achron's works, traditional Jewish hymns and other composers' music, meaning prayer as a musical expression and cultural heritage.
Cantor Isidor Abramowicz is one of the most prominent representatives of contemporary Jewish liturgical music in Europe. He worked as a cantor in the Stockholm Great Synagogue, and from 2019 onwards. There is a cantor and music director and music director of the Synagogue of Berlin, a liberal center of the Jewish cult, famous for its exceptional musical tradition.
Born in Buenos Aires, Abramowicz acquired classical musical and Jewish liturgical education. His performances intertwine intertwine in the musical traditions of Ashkenazi, Sephard and Latin America, creating a unique, spiritually influential musical narrative. Abramowicz is known for its ability to revive forgotten liturgical pieces and to create concerts of sacred music that organically blends past and present.
Since 2017 He leads the cantoring program at Abraham Geiger College, contributing to the development of a new generation of European cantorists and forming the future of a liberal Jewish liturgy, responsibly coordinating traditions and modern artistic directions.
In the last decade, Abramowicz has participated in many significant artistic and commemorative projects. Among them is the CD and concert cycle Schire Simroh, dedicated to Arno Nadel's liturgical music, and the album Yamim Norim, where the liturgical songs for the big holidays sound in new arrangements. His appearance in the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Hall and participation in the project Lebensmelodien, a musical memorial cycle presenting the works of Jewish composers persecuted during the Holocaust period, is also significant.
For the cantor, Abramowicz's cantoring is not only art, but also prayer: with purpose, voice and heart.
