Agniaus Jankevičius' black satire musical performance "Reforma" based on the director's play of the same name focuses on the processes taking place in Europe, of which Lithuania is an integral part. Migration as a phenomenon is a problem, but an even more urgent and growing problem is the emerging global syndrome of redundancy. Redundancy is destructive both in the social and existential sense and cannot offer solutions to change the situation. Redundancy breeds even greater destruction, absurdity or even violence.

The time of the emptying of homesteads is coming to the province of Lithuania, and this is no metaphor. This did not bypass the town of Skakiškis either. Once famous for its bright high school graduates, a cheese and butter factory, the town is now vegetating, but the people of Skakiska do not lose hope. In their ranks, there are still creative, innovative, visionary people who will not allow the town to become a ghost. Who are those people? These are three teachers from the Skakiškis school, who are creating a plan to turn the town into a new Promised Land.

The play "Reforma" is sharp, in a satirical form and talks about the ambiguous problem of refugees, unnecessary people who are among us. Basically all the main characters are written off. Bad actions beget bad actions. Inadequate actions are inadequate actions, and the most paradoxical thing is that everything is done to survive.

The issues concern both global changes taking place in Europe and aspects of human value, dignity, altruism and pragmatism. By the way, the creators of the performance are close to the aesthetics of the animated film "South Park" and Roy's Andersson's "Life Trilogy".

Agnius Jankevičius (b. 1979) is a theater director, actor, pedagogue, one of the leaders of the middle generation of Lithuanian theater directing, who has directed performances in many Lithuanian professional theaters for more than 20 years, created roles in theater and cinema.
