THE MICE
Based on the play "Hamlet" by W. Shakespeare
N - 14
What is a crime? What is the greater crime, murder or suicide? Is infatuation a crime? How can you respect your father and mother if you yourself have experienced a lack of unconditional love? What to choose: justice or mercy?
Constructed through the eyes of a young, maturing person, the subjective narrative, the main purpose of which is to find out and understand the motives and circumstances of the murder crime and to unmask all the possible culprits, deconstructs the classic story of Hamlet, consciously reconstructs it, and thus invites you to look curiously from a different angle. Here, mousetraps turn into spiritual traps, in which those who fall into them will not be able to avoid a confrontation with themselves: for some it will be destructive, for others it will be purifying, and maybe it will also bring hope.
Director Ieva Stundzytė's plays on uncomfortable and controversial topics, which are included in the repertoire of the Keistulių theater for young people, such as M. McDonagh's "Pagalvinis" or M. Norman's "Goodnight, Mama", attracted a lot of interest from the audience, so this time too the goal of the play "Mice" is to openly talk and analyze family relationships, raise uncomfortable questions concerning the conflict between different generations and search for possible solutions through mutual communication.
