The choice to build such a performance was led by a clear sensation that disability is still an invisible category of society that needs to be understood by approaching both theater and the viewer to the very disability, looking at its essence, observing what people with disabilities themselves think about disability as a phenomenon. The creators of the performance seek to naked the concept of normality and to raise the question of the potential diversity of human existence, the diversity of the senses and experiences.
Official statistics announce that there are about 9% of the population in Lithuania with disabilities, so almost one in ten residents, but most people without disabilities say that there are no disabled persons in Lithuania at all. In Lithuania, people with disabilities are still distinguished without thinking that their subculture could contribute to alternative, synifying or otherwise special existential worldview. For example, people with hearing or visual disabilities have developed excellent tactile abilities, but most often their worldview is isolated with only negative characteristics, so they are often forced to develop the same knowledge of the world as those without disabilities, though they could have a different, different one. Finally, the question arises as to how many "powers" people are disabled, why is it so difficult to accept aspects of our body or personality and what can we teach us that we are all kinds: various, strange, tragic, sometimes funny? The title of the performance "Celebration" accommodates the reference that the audience is invited to the celebration of existence and diversity, to be a party as you are.
The performance plays a variety of disabilities - physical, mental, mental, sensory - with people who have to gather and bring together the Disability Theater "New Theater", and the dramaturgy is documentarily created from their sharing, stories, discussions with the creative team.
The performance is funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture.
