Jacob Brazi's Seagull is a performance that will return to your dreams. For a young director, the classic play managed to turn the classic play into a metaphysical dream that touches and changes our consciousness for a long time. It is an experiment, a non -limited scene. That swamp involves all of us and does not leave us at rest to experience the drama of that family again - and ourselves.
"Seagull" was born from a course of actors' creative experiments. From the very beginning of the performance, you will not want to feel unwilling to feel as a member of a small group of young group, blend in with that group, and get closer to them like a dormitory neighbor. This performance is special in that the main character, which is the main experience, is the whole group of actors, which acts as a giant young energy engine, a medium in which one character's actions ignite another. The whole performance is like a swing: between the complete fusion with the naked (literal sense of the word) on stage and the distance, the retreat when it comes to. And in the middle of those swings, the silence, the silence, which creates the impression that you were drowned in the atmosphere of a collective dream. The silence, in which all that ball of energy comes closer to the viewer and appears with all the charming power.
Although you are involved in an experiment, you will hear every word written by Chekhov and realize that this play is written to the present that it is dedicated to you. You feel the metaphysics of the Seagull's text, the strength of which is not fading, as is the struggle between the hot passions, the constant search for the source of love and creative. The play in the play about the passions, the creative quest, the changing time, the prophecies and the fulfillment of the future, the performance allows you to feel the body. This director and its actors could not choose a better visual and greeting image of the past.
Jacob Brazys is a young generation theater director, a disciple of Oscar Koršunovas, who has already created performances based on the play "Mizanthropy" and William Shakespeare's "Macbet". Seagull is the third performance of the director. Jacob Brazys cooperated with several international festivals: Face Theater Festival in Budapest (Hungary), Volta On Line in Vilnius (Lithuania), Theater Olympics 2019 in St. Petersburg (Russia). The young director worked as an assistant to his teacher Oskaras Koršunovas (during the construction of Rimantas Kmita Remyga at the Šiauliai State Drama Theater and William Shakespeare's "Othello" OKT/Vilnius City Theater). According to Oscar Koršunov, Jacob Brazys is already creating a peculiar theatrical language.
The project is partly funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture.
